Preparations Before Installation
- Tools needed: tape measure, scissors, aluminum mounting channel, double-sided 3M tape, plastic fixing clips, power adapter, wire connectors, silicone sealant, electric drill.
- Inspection: Unroll the neon strip fully and power it on temporarily to check all sections light normally before installation.
- Safety reminder: Cut off power supply completely when wiring; only use matching DC12V/24V power drivers.
Method 1: Aluminum Channel Mounting (Most Recommended, For Long-term Engineering & Outdoor Use)
- Clean and dry the wall, facade or ground surface.
- Fix the aluminum channel to the surface with screws and drill holes; bend the channel along the required curves and corners.
- Put the silicone neon flex into the aluminum groove, press it flat.
- Cover the channel with a PC diffuser cover to hide the light body for a neater look.
- Wire the strip end to the power adapter, seal the wiring joint with silicone glue for outdoor waterproofing.
Advantages: Firm fixation, heat dissipation, anti-collision, anti-UV, perfect for villa outlines, storefront signs, outdoor landscape lighting.
Method 2: Double-Sided Adhesive Tape Installation (Indoor Smooth Surfaces Only, Short-Term Decor)
- Wipe and degrease the installation surface (glass, smooth wood, paint wall, cabinet panels).
- Tear off the protective film of high-viscosity 3M double-sided tape attached to the back of neon strip.
- Press the light strip firmly along the designed line, hold for 3–5 minutes to ensure adhesion.
- Do not use this method on rough walls, cement surfaces or outdoor areas; high temperature will cause falling off.
Advantages: Fast construction, no drilling damage to walls, ideal for home background walls, window displays, indoor temporary decor.
Method 3: Plastic Fixing Clips Installation (Curved Shapes, Large Logo Letter Signs)
- Mark the installation route and drill small holes at intervals of 20–30cm.
- Lock plastic clips on the wall with screws.
- Snap the silicone neon flex into the clips one by one to fix all straight lines and curved bends.
- Arrange the wire neatly and connect to the power supply.
Advantages: Easy to adjust bending radian, convenient for irregular logos, wedding stage decorations, mall art installations.
Method 4: Suspension Installation (Ceiling, Hanging Signage, Event Backdrops)
- Install expansion screws or suspension wires on the ceiling.
- Bind the neon strip to transparent fishing wire or metal hanging ropes with cable ties.
- Adjust the height and radian of each segment, arrange the power wire hidden behind the light.
Advantages: Floating light effect, widely used for wedding arches, mall hanging decorative lights, exhibition booth backdrops.
Standard Wiring Steps
- Cut the neon strip strictly at the marked cutting points only.
- Insert positive and negative wires into the strip’s end cap connector, clamp tightly.
- Connect the other end of the wire to the matching power adapter.
- For outdoor use, fill the joint gap with waterproof silicone glue to avoid water infiltration.
- Do not connect multiple long strips in series beyond the power supply’s maximum load length.
Key Installation Notes
- Do not over-bend the neon strip sharply to avoid internal PCB breakage; the minimum bending radius is 3cm.
- Outdoor installation must adopt aluminum channel + silicone glue sealing to maintain IP67 waterproof performance.
- Keep the power adapter placed in dry and ventilated positions, avoid long-term exposure to rain.
- If multiple segments are used, separate power supply is required for every 5–10m (12V) or 10–20m (24V).
